Trinity Barrie Trinity is a historic congregation, having celebrated their 185th anniversary in 2020. Located in downtown Barrie, the Busby Centre was housed there for over 20 years. The hall was built in 1870, followed by the church proper in 1880. With a rich tradition Trinity has been involved in many facets of ministry. At present it continues to be involved in outreach ministry in the downtown area, having a pantry outside and recently opening a warming center in conjunction with the John Howard Society and the Gilbert Center. Their logo is the trinity knot. It features three inter-connected ovals or arcs, with some variations featuring a circle in the center. While it looks complex, it is in fact considered to be the simplest knot. https://www.trinitybarrie.com/
St. Margaret’s Barrie St Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church began as an outreach mission in Letitia Heights. In the mid 1980's, the parishioners gathered at the local community hall, later moving to the Letitia Heights plaza. In 1995 the parish moved to its present location near West Bayfield School, using a portable for services. This area in North Barrie has lots of young families in the surrounding neighbourhood. The permanent facility, is a 3 phase ongoing project. The permanent building as it is now was opened in April of 1999. The final stage of construction is expected to take place within the next five years, to include a nursery and sunday school facilities as well as a banquet / meeting hall. The parish is busy with many activities taking place before Covid. They are involved in outreach in Barrie in a number of ways including a pantry to support the Food Bank, advocacy for shelter for the homeless, Samaritan’s house which provides housing for families affected by poverty and violence. The parish logo symbolizes St Margaret, who gathered the orphans, the poor and the sick to herself. Margaret became Queen of Scotland in the year 1070, when she married King Malcolm of MacBeth fame. She opened her arms to the people. Orphans were taken into the royal palace, the sick and the suffering tended, prisoners of war released and the poor were fed. Through devotion and love, Margaret won the hearts of the Clan Chieftains and aided Malcolm in uniting Scotland as a nation. She died in 1093 and was made a Saint in 1251. http://www.stmargaretbarrie.ca/
